The performance of the family educative function becomes a growing concern for the pedagogical group at “Carlos Manuel de Cespedes” Elementary School, as well for parents, who so many times ask for advice in the educational institution to eradicate some of the problems in their sons and daughters education, especially in fifth graders, who are considered as pre-adolescents.
It is in this stage when they start to think of issues they will later on ask about.
The current investigation has as a starting point the improvement of family knowledge in their children education.
Consequently, the main objective is focused in the elaboration of guidance sessions so as to improve the family preparation to carry out its educative function.
The authoress is intended to provide the family with the necessary tools to achieve a closer and happier family coexistence.
To gather the necessary information on the object of investigation, the researcher put into practice the following scientific methods: Theoretical Methods (Analysis – Synthesis, Induction – Deduction). Empirical Methods (Observation, Interview, Survey).
Mathematical Methods (Percentage Analysis and Descriptive Statistics).
The putting into practice of the guidance sessions proved to be effective in the partial solution of the scientific problem detected.
Besides, they contributed to strengthen the school – family ties and to stand out the role of the psycho-pedagogical counsellor.
In general terms, parents pointed out their satisfaction after the application of the sessions and an improvement in their preparation was corroborated.
